Olivia, a beautiful 6 year old shepherd mix, came to us in the Spring of xxxx. She was among the last of the dogs we got from the BW Cooper housing project, as it was being demolished. A picture was sent to us of puppies that were nursing from a mother who had been poisoned. The workers demolishing the development were wary of the dogs that had made the abandoned building home after Katrina and started to poison them. We immediately went to work and pulled 5 litters of puppies out and 5 adult dogs. They have ALL found their forever homes except Olivia. Even deaf white shepherd Ava Lucille and Olivia?s twin sister Ophelia have found homes. Now it?s OLIVIA?s turn. Olivia is just now easing beautifully out of her high-spirited puppy years and mellowing into adulthood. She is still energetic and would probably be best with an active owner. Of course you don?t have to be a marathon runner and if you are more of a couch potato but have a nice yard and another dog for her to play with that would work as well. As long as she still gets some quality one on one people time, as all dogs deserve. She has a certain tomboyish quality to her and she can be a bit mischievous. But that is all part of her quirky charm. Perky and inquisitive, she would definitely require adequate fencing. She loves the water. Even a small kiddy pool goes a long way with Olivia. It?s really kinda sad to see her now. Her last real playmate left this summer and she is definitely a little lonely. She gets along with other dogs, but she has a distinct preference for male dogs. She is a smart, quiet, slightly shy and knows basic obedience. She is crate trained so that means she would transition very easily into being house trained. she relaxes easily in her crate finds it a comforting place to be during storms. She is spayed, HW neg and utd on vaccinations. What can I say about Olivia except, 'EARS!!!' Really, they are beyond the pale! I think if we get a strong wind, she'll just blow away. And the funny thing is, she'd probably be think that was a hoot! I'm not sure where she got them from. My guess is that she is a hound/boxer mix, but those ears? Maybe there is some Dobie in her family tree....
This girl is nothing but fun and energy. She has never had a down day and finds joy in each moment. I can't imagine a home that wouldn't be lit up by her happy spirit! I mean, look closely at her photo. Her tail is actually blurry because it is wagging so fast. That's my girl! She get along great with other dogs and children
